Tender Is the Night

Tender Is the Night - F. Scott Fitzgerald I wanted to read this after I finished [b:Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald|17934458|Z A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald|Therese Anne Fowler|/assets/nocover/60x80.png|21763986] by [a:Therese Anne Fowler|6521646|Therese Anne Fowler|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1356829408p2/6521646.jpg] and realized that the only novel I have read by F. Scott Fitzgerald was [b:The Great Gatsby|4671|The Great Gatsby|F. Scott Fitzgerald|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1361191055s/4671.jpg|245494]. This one sounded really scandalous and intriguing.
Literally, for the entire first half, I had to struggle to stay awake. It was interesting but just so slowly paced. The second half was much more interesting but sad. It's sad to watch anyone's life unravel the way this couple's did. (That's why only 2 stars. I prefer happy endings. I read to escape the drama and tragedies of "real" life, hence why I don't read too many contemporary novels.) I do give it points for the characters being very vivid and real but this just wasn't my cup of tea.
