Black Spring

Black Spring - Alison Croggon Let me start by saying two things:
1). I love Alison Croggon's Books of Pellinor. Love bordering on obsession love them.
2). I have never read Wuthering Heights.

This book was dark and beautifully written. I can admire her ability to weave words and descriptions into things of true beauty. Alison Croggon has such skill with words.

However, I was confused with the narration. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to be comfortable with it.

I didn't feel a real attachment to any of the characters. Anna was too goody-goody, Lina was a brat, Damek was a vengeful brat, and Tidor was useless. What's there to connect with?

Overall, I like happy ending books. I know that Wuthering Heights is not a happy book so I knew this wouldn't be either. I think I just held out hope and was disappointed.
